This Sunday, on March 25 is Waffle Day, and it can’t come any sooner! Based on the wise words of Leslie Knope from Parks and Recreation waffles over friends. “We need to remember what’s important in life: friends, waffles, work. Or waffles, friends, work. Doesn’t matter, but work is third.”

Waffle Day originated in Sweden as Våffeldagen, actually due to confusion between the Swedish “vårfrudagen” meaning “Our Lady’s Day” which falls on the same date. The day historically marks the beginning of spring and is celebrated eating waffles. What a way to celebrate!

We can tuck into our Eggos sooner rather than later.

Although National Waffle Day is celebrated August 24, (The day in 1869 that Cornelius Swartwout, of Troy, New York, was given a patent for a waffle iron) it doesn’t mean that we can’t enjoy both days right?
