Cardi B Finally Confirms That She Is Part Of A Gang & Opens Up About Her Past

There has been speculation that everyone’s newest favorite rap queen Cardi B is affiliated with the Bloods’ sub-gang the Brims.

When asked if she is affiliated with a gang Cardi brushes it off and denies it. She claims she just likes the color red and used Bartier instead of Cartier so she wouldn’t get sued.

Now Cardi has opened up about her gang affiliated past to GQ‘s Caity Weaver and why she hasn’t confirmed her association with the Brim’s in public yet. “I never really wanted to talk about that, because I always wanted a music deal. I always want to keep my endorsements,” Cardi said. “When I was 16 years old, I used to hang out with a lot of Bloods. I used to pop off with my homies. And they’d say, ‘Yo, you really get it poppin’. You should come home. You should turn Blood.’ And I did. Yes, I did.”

Cardi said that stripping pulled her away from the gang because she “was so focused on making money.” She then goes on to explain that being in a gang doesn’t make you money, it doesn’t really guarantee you anything except being in that gang for life. She even stated how it doesn’t even bring you loyalty because there is inner gang violence to climb higher within the ranks.

She does confirm she still “reps” the Bloods, because she’s in it for life, but is not active in gang activity. “When I was younger, I used to go very hard,” she said. “As I got older…you can do your own thing, but you always got to check in with your set. You don’t leave your people behind.”

But she adamantly states that she would not encourage anyone to join a gang because it’s a “waste of your money, it’s a waste of your time.” That’s why she didn’t want to confirm her gang affiliation for so long because she didn’t want her fans to think it would be okay of cool to join one. “That’s why I don’t talk about it much,” Cardi stated. “Because I wouldn’t want a young person, a young girl, to think it’s okay to join it.”

People speculated that Cardi was a Blood member for awhile because so many of her actions have pointed to her being part of the Bloods. For starters, her refusal to use the letter C. The Bloods have a long-standing rivalry with the Crips. There’s a reason why her songs, “Bickenhead” and “Bodak Yellow” and “Bartier Cardi” all start with B’s instead of C’s.

Then there is, of course, her love of color red. She posted an Instagram of her wearing blue with the caption, “I hate wearing Flue, but this coat was too poppin.” The comments were flooded with death threats. She has since deleted her caption and turned off the comments.

Then there’s the “bloody shoes” lyrics in “Bodak Yellow” and her tweet from last year saying the B in Cardi B stands for Brim.

There is also another tweet of her’s from 2016 stating the same thing, the B stands for Brim.

The writing was on the wall from the beginning, but it totally makes sense why Cardi hasn’t confirmed anything until now.
