Kim Kardashian has managed to parlay her reality star status into becoming one of the most talked about and followed celebrities. Now she has transformed her following into a loyal customer base for her beauty and fragrance lines, KKW Beauty and KKW Fragrance. She talked to Business of Fashion about the success of her two businesses.
Both companies have boosted crazy revenue, but because both businesses are private, it’s not disclosed the exact amount they have each netted. Supposedly Kim’s first KKW Fragrance launch of her three crystal perfumes brought in $10 million on the first day. Her beauty and fragrance products are always being sold out and restocked.
Kardashian has released a total of six fragrances thus far. Her three crystal fragrances Gardenia, Citrus and Oud and her three limited edition Kimoji Hearts fragrances Bae, BFF and Ride or Die. Remember when she even sent her “haters” PR boxes of her Kimoji Heart fragrances? That was a real power move.
A new fragrance is going to be added to the collection next month called KKW Body. The bottle of the perfume is shaped just like Kardashian’s iconic body.
The fragrance is going to drop on May 30. “It’s really cool,” Kardashian said of her new fragrance to BoF. “The scent is so good, I’m so proud of it. It smells to me like what I would think golden smells like, even though that’s a color and something that’s just luminous.”
I also don’t know what ~golden~ smells like, but I can envision what Kardashian is describing. It sounds very summery and will be beachy, based on the promotion photos.
According to BoF, the companies didn’t disclose financial information, but reports have estimated that roughly 350,000 units of products are sold per launch. This “could result in an estimated turnover of more than $100 million in revenue in its first year.” That’s not even including the addition of KKW Body.
