‘Jersey Shore’s’ Most Shocking Secrets Revealed

The cast of Jersey Shore Family Vacation may put their personal lives on display for MTV’s cameras, but there are still some secrets that weren’t shared in the history of the series that would shock even their biggest fans to the core.

Did you know that the show was originally intended to run only one season and the premise was to find the “Best Guido?”

Series producer SallyAnn Salsano decided that the original premise of the show wouldn’t work and instead, should be centered on a group of 20-somethings who fit the stereotypical “Guido” mold.

Once these people were found, she placed them in a Jersey Shore beach house and hoped for ratings gold.

Little did the cast or the producers realize the cultural phenomenon the show would become.

Jersey Shore Was Supposed To Have A New Cast Every Season
Mike Sorrentino, Paul DelVecchio, Ronnie Ortiz-Magro, Vinny Guadagnino, Nicole Polizzi, Jenni Farley, Deena Nicole Cortese and Sammi Giancola created the perfect mix of personalities on the MTV series and fans fell hard for the group’s tasteless misadventures.

In fact, the show wasn’t originally intended to be the story of this one group. The plan was to introduce a new cast each season. That idea was scrapped when the chemistry between the cast was perfectly imperfect.

The Cast Could Talk Privately On The Infamous Duck Phone Only Once Per Week
Just about everything the JS crew did was caught by MTV’s cameras. However, they were allowed once a week to have some privacy without being recorded.

They were allowed to have one private phone conversation without being filmed. Otherwise, it was fair game for their most private of secrets to be on camera, no matter how embarrassing the topic.

One Of The Show’s Original Cast Members Became A “Singer”
The most hated cast members in the history of the show’s original run was Angelina Pivarnick. Angelina was released from the series in Season 1 after she refused to work her shifts at the Shore Store. Since this was a stipulation to stay on the series, Angelina was let go.

After briefly returning to the show for its second season in Miami, Angelina attempted to launch a singing career and released a single titled “I’m Hot” which flopped.

Jenni Has Not One, But Two College Degrees
Although many people are under the misconception that the cast might not be intelligent due to their childish antics, in reality, several of them have attended and graduated from college. In fact, Vinny was getting ready to take the LSAT’s, a required testing to enter law school! But it’s another cast member that really took their schooling all the way.

Jenni has two college degrees; one in computer programming and the other in graphic design. She graduated from New York Institute of Technology and ran her own design company prior to being cast on Jersey Shore.

When Snooki Signed Her Contract, She Left Producers Something To Remember Her By
Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi’s casting changed the trajectory of the show from an all-male ensemble to a house split evenly between men and women. In fact, her casting was pivotal in changing the series overall theme.

Snooki was such a right fit for the show that the series added other women to the cast. Rumor has it that one of the show’s casting producers remarked that when Snooki signed her MTV paperwork, she left orange fingerprints behind.

Not Everyone In The Cast Is Italian
The show is based on the “Guido Lifestyle” that many people associate with Italian-Americans. But the show’s two biggest stars are not even Italian at all!

Snooki is Chilean but was adopted by an Italian family. Jenni is of Irish and Spanish descent.
