Celebrate Dwayne Johnson’s Birthday By Watching Some Of His Best Movies

Everyone’s favorite, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson is celebrating his 46th birthday! That’s right, Johnson’s turning 46 and he still looks great and even gets to the gym early in the morning while everyone else is asleep. I mean, look at those muscles.

Johnson has played some pretty loveable characters in his career. Take a look at some his most beloved movie roles.

Moana (2016)

Everyone can agree that Moana is their favorite movie, sorry Frozen. If you weren’t aware, Moana is about an adventurous princess, who sails out on a daring mission to save her people and their food. She’s on the outlook for the once-mighty demigod Maui, who has the key to restore peace to Te Fiti. However, she fulfills the ancient quest for her ancestors and discovers the one thing she always sought out: her own identity. Not only Johnson voices Maui, but he sings for the movie as well.

Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle (2017)

Okay as a fan of the Jumanji movie that was released in the ’90s,  I have to admit that I was worried that they were going to ruin the late Robin William’s legacy. I, however, was wrong. They made sure to pay tribute to the late actor and to his character in the first movie. See, a lot of people thought it was a remake instead of a sequel, which everyone made sure that his presence was still felt in the movie. Now, you’re thinking, Johnson played the action hero, in fact. It was the opposite. He didn’t play his usual confident, musclebound hero. Instead, he played an awkward nerd coming to grip with being a hulking Adonis for the first time in his life. It’s a great different formula that makes this movie one of Johnson’s memorable films in recent years.

Central Intelligence

This movie marks the first time the Kevin Hart and Johnson shared the screen, which is utterly crazy because their chemistry is off the charts. You probably think, another buddy cop movie. Yes, but this movie is brilliant and well done.  It starts with the duo’s physical mismatch, which sets up laughs that the script doesn’t always deliver, but their seemingly effortless chemistry goes a long way in this outing. That says a lot, and it’s a great movie with your family and friends. It revolves around the escapades of a CIA agent (Johnson) who’s forced to confront his nerdy high school past after roping in an old acquaintance (Hart) on a top-secret case.

The Fast & Furious Series

Even though he came in during the 5th movie, that doesn’t mean he doesn’t have a significant impact on the series. For example, he has a memorable character, Luke Hobbs who went after the family but then became a part of the family. He also gets a new franchise that he’ll lead with Statham, where its Hobbs/Shaw team. Though, let me share with you one of my favorite scenes from the 6th movie.

The Rundown

Who can’t forget the time that The Rock and Stifler were in a movie together? I think the better question is, how can you forget about The Rundown? The Rundown was the movie that basically started everything for Johnson after The Scorpio King and The Mummy Returns. The film throws Johnson and Seann William Scott together in an action caper about a retiring bounty hunter (Johnson) who’s wheedled into hunting down his boss’s twerpy wayward son (Scott) in a Brazilian rainforest. Where Johnson managed to tick off an unscrupulous mining kingpin (Christopher Walken) while pursuing some treasure. It’s the kind of movie that delivers the expected beats at the expected moments but thrives on the charisma of its stars, and honestly, it doesn’t get enough recognition.

Game Plan

Okay, The Game Plan is truly underrated, and I don’t know why but it is. It’s about an NFL quarterback living the bachelor lifestyle discovers that he has an 8-year-old daughter from a previous relationship. I mean, Johnson playing a father on-screen? Don’t say anymore, I’m sold.

There are other movies that you should check out, so here’s a list of all of his movies that I did not mention. Also, Baywatch was a great movie, and it needs more recognition 2018.

Happy 46th birthday, Mr. Johnson! I hope it’s good to you!
