His unfollow comes after Rihanna talked about their relationship (or lack of) to Vogue. Chioma Nnadi, who interviewed Rihanna, specifically asked her about Drake’s VMAs speech. In 2016 Rihanna won the iconic Vanguard award. Drake presented her the award with a gushy over the top speech.
The speech praised Rihanna for her iconic music videos, impeccable fashion taste, chart-topping songs and most of all for being herself the entire time. “She’s someone…she’s someone I’ve been in love with since I was 22 years old, she’s one of my best friends in the world,” Drake said at the conclusion of his speech. “All my adult life, I’ve looked up to her even though she’s younger than me. She’s a living, breathing legend in our industry.”
Now looking back on the speech Rihanna feels it was awkward. “Waiting through that speech was probably the most uncomfortable part,” she told Vogue. “I don’t like too many compliments; I don’t like to be put on blast.”
Nnadi then flat out asked Rihanna about the state of their relationship. “We don’t have a friendship now, but we’re not enemies either. It is what it is.”
Guess the news got back to Drake that they’re no longer friends so he decided to make it official by unfollowing her. It’s doubtful RiRi is crying over Drake’s social media move. She’s moved on and is now happily with billionaire Hassan Jameel. In that same Vogue interview, she said she has never been with someone worth feeling guilty over taking personal time away from them.
Reminder, Drake and Rihanna also used to date. Yikes.
