‘Friends’ Fans Are Divided Over This New Theory About Ross & Monica

Friends has been off the air since 2004, but still, the fanbase for the show won’t go away and won’t stop concocting theories about the cast and storylines. The most recent fan theory is about Ross and Monica and their sibling relationship.

Emily Heller, a writer and comedian, started this theory with a single tweet. She posted, “Just realized they HAD to make Monica & Ross brother and sister otherwise all the F•R•I•E•N•D•S would have stuck with Carol in the divorce.”

This one tweet sparked lots of controversy and other tweets. Needless to say, Friends fans are divided about this opinion. Fans took her theory as another way to hate on Ross, so there were lots of Ross defenders in her mentions. There were also lots of people debunking her theory.

Fans pointed out that Friends would never be because the reason they were all friends was because Ross and Monica were siblings.

That's not true.. The whole show is based on them been brother and sister. Or how else would they have all met each other? Get over it

The theory is debunked by the episode that shows them before Rachel when it was a group of four . Ross, Monica, Chandler, and Phoebe would hang out at the bar that would become Centra Perk cafe before even Koey moved in. pic.twitter.com/hzksmD4HVj

They would never even be a group if Ross and Monica weren’t siblings. The only reason Monica knows Chandler is through Ross and the same goes for Ross and Phoebe knowing each other because of being Monica’s roommate

Fans got into the nitty-gritty of why some of the friends would have stuck with Carol and some wouldn’t. What their motives would be to pick Carol over Ross or vice versa. It’s all very detailed and a little inane because this is a fictional show.

• Chandler – Team Ross (went to college with him)
• Phoebe – Team Ross (was sympathetic towards him when he found out in TOW The Flashback)
• Joey – Team Ross (moved in with Chandler after Ross found out in the same episode)

If anything this tweet awoke dormant Ross stans.

when the internet attacks ross and you realize you’re the only one who likes him pic.twitter.com/tPVMzq5b7W

Noooooo way, for so many reasons but the main thing I’ve taken from this thread is that some people don’t like Ross… didn’t think that was even possible. Phoebe sure, but never Ross ! #teamross pic.twitter.com/FQ8Q0de94I

Heller cleared up the meaning behind her tweet and how it wasn’t anti-Ross, but more pro-Carol.

Truly meant this not as a Ross burn but a Carol compliment

Shout out to all the folks taking this as a face value conspiracy theory. That is definitely exactly how I meant it, I am very serious about this, please fill my mentions with arguments it is the only way I can cum

— Emily Heller (@MrEmilyHeller) May 14, 2018

But one thing can be agreed upon, the way she spelled Friends.

Taking the time to spell friends like that displays more respect than i have for virtually anything

If you don’t want your mentions filled, don’t tweet Friends theories, opinions or observances because they will be taken very literally and dissected.
