Sandra Bullock was born in Arlington, Virginia, but raised for twelve years in Germany and Austria during which time she studied ballet and singing. Bullock would often take on small parts in her mother’s opera productions. In 1987, Bullock received a BFA in Drama from East Carolina University in Greenville, North Carolina.
Bullock’s television debut came in 1989 when she was offered a part in the TV movie Bionic Showdown: The Six Million Dollar Man and the Bionic Woman. Shortly afterward, she went on to hold a prominent supporting role in the science-fiction film Demolition Man (1993) and a leading role in the action film Speed (1993).
During the mid-1990s, Bullock experienced a string of successes including While You Were Sleeping (1995), The Net (1995) and A Time to Kill (1996).
In 2000, Bullock starred in the enormously successful Miss Congeniality. Two years later, she began operating as the executive producer for the sitcom George Lopez in which she made several appearances.
