Kesha and Dr. Luke are in an ongoing legal battle. Kesha wants out of her contract with Luke – a.k.a. Lukasz Gottwald – because he abused and raped her. According to the court records, Kesha alleges that she wasn’t the only artist Luke abused. She told Lady Gaga via text that Luke raped Katy Perry.
According to The Blast, Luke refutes Kesha’s three claims. We knew the first two, that he raped Kesha and gave her drugs against her will. The third accusation was that Luke raped another famous singer. Until now we didn’t know who that was until now. Kesha accused Luke of raping Perry.
The court documents state that on February 26, 206 Kesha texted Gaga claiming that she was raped by Luke.
The text continues, “[Kesha] also falsely asserted that [Luke] had also raped Kathryn Hudson p/k/a/ Katy Perry,” and that, “Following this text message conversation, and with [Kesha’s] encouragement, [Lady Gaga] spread negative messages about [Luke] in the press and on social media.”
Luke claims that this false allegation cost him $10 million that he would have made if he worked on Perry’s albums. According to Vulture, Luke subpoenaed Gaga to turn over the unredacted texts and testify in court. Prior to this the texts were submitted by Kesha and sealed.
Vulture says that Perry gave a deposition but it hasn’t been disclosed.
Since the story broke Luke’s legal team has released this statement:
“Katy Perry herself confirmed that Dr. Luke did not rape her. Kesha’s accusation to the contrary — just like her other outrageous lies about Dr. Luke — is baseless and irresponsible, and it is disrespectful to both Katy Perry and Dr. Luke. In his defamation lawsuit against Kesha, Dr. Luke seeks damages for the harm caused by these malicious falsehoods.”
Luke is seeking $50 million in lost earnings from Kesha.
