Cardi B was one of the many celebrities who have posted about the Bronx teen, Lesandro “Junior” Guzman-Feliz who was wrongfully stabbed to death by five men. The 15-year-old was misidentified and wrongfully killed by gang members outside of a bodega in the New York bureau.
Cardi, who is from the Bronx, shared a photo of the late 15-year-old on her Instagram asking for justice for Junior. “R.I.P. These Bronx streets are ruthless,” she wrote. “What piss me off the most is that these BX [sic] cops be harassing the shit outta people then they see a boy bleeding to death and ask what happen?”
Junior’s extended family set up a GoFundMe for his family. The description says the family is struggling financially since Junior’s death was “so sudden and tragic.” In three days since the fundraiser went up over 6,700 people have donated over $159,000. One of those people was Cardi. She donated $8,000 under her given name, Belcalis Almanzar.
A day later Cardi shared another video from Junior’s mom Leandra Feliz thanking everyone who has donated including Cardi. “Shheeeshhh this made me teared and made me feel soooo special like I feel maa special,” she wrote on Instagram.
In Spanish she wrote: “Senora, I know that your night is long, sad, you can cry and wake up thinking it was a nightmare. Soon you will feel more protected because you will feel your son and you will have signs that the IS is with you. May your family have Peace soon and that God always have your son in Gloria.”
Late on Wednesday, June 20, Junior was stabbed in the neck with a machete at a bodega in the Bronx. Junior supposedly got into a fight with a group of men who believed Junior to be someone else, so they stabbed him outside the bodega. Junior tried to run to the St. Barnabas hospital a block away but ended up collapsing on the sidewalk.
Five men have been arrested in connection to Junior’s death. “Thank God they were caught,” Feliz told CBS2. “It’s good because they have to pay but I want my son back. If they could give me the life of my son I’d be happy.”
Three of the men were arrested in Paterson, New Jersey and the other two were arrested in the Bronx. One of the suspects, Kevin Alvarez, 19, has been charged with second-degree murder and gang assault.
