Have you every swiped through Tinder and saw a friend’s significant other? Or even someone that you know’s significant other? If you know they’re in a monogamous relationship then didn’t you just catch them cheating? Well, not necessarily.
It’s an uncomfortable and scary moment because it seems like you just discovered someone’s significant other cheating on them. This isn’t always the case because spotting a friend’s significant other on Tinder or another dating app doesn’t always mean they’re cheating.
It could mean they didn’t delete their account.
Here’s Why

If you don’t delete your dating profile, you’re still going to show up on the app. Even if you deleted the app on your phone, you will still show up on people’s swipes. Let’s take Tinder for example. Your account is still active even if you delete the app. If you redownload the app and log in, all your previous matches and conversations will pop back up.
There is also catfishing which seems like the dumbest idea in the world, yet it still happens pretty often.
Or, as stupid as it sounds, your friend’s significant other could be cheating on your friend with a dating app.
How To Delete Your Account

Here’s how to officially delete your Tinder account to avoid this problem in the future.
Find the settings pane.
Go to the app settings.
Scroll all the way down to the bottom and select ‘delete account.’
You should get a message that says, ‘account deleted successfully.’
What That Means For You

Just because you find your friend’s significant other on Tinder does not always mean they’re cheating. They could be completely faithful but just forgot to delete their old account. If this happens you’re going to want to tread lightly with your friend because assuming something could really offend them and affect your relationship.
Not deleting a dating account happens pretty often because many people think deleting the app is what makes it gone.
You’re also definitely not going to want to swipe right in hopes of proving a point to your friend.
