On July 3 Halsey and G-Eazy announced their breakup after a year of dating. The singer broke the news on her Instagram story last Tuesday. “I normally keep this kind of thing private but provided our public nature I feel I need to inform my fans,” she wrote. “G-Eazy and I are taking some apart. I’m eager to continue the upcoming passage of time dedicating myself to my art and career, and the duration of my tour. I wish him the best. Thanks for respecting our privacy at this time.”
Fans speculated the two broke up when Halsey started deleting photos of G-Eazy from her Instagram. She also posted a photo with her and her dog with the caption, “Kiss my dog on the forehead and then kiss ur a** goodbye.”

So what happened? Did the couple have an amicable breakup? Well according to E! distance and a crazy work schedule were the cause of their breakup. Their source said, “They both tried to remain strong to ensure their work commitments together went smoothly, but ultimately called it quits after too much fighting. The trust was lost between the pair when they were apart, and it got too difficult for both of them.”
But fans think something else happened besides just a crazy schedule. A day after she announced their split she tweeted the scissor emoji. Fans believe the emoji is a reference to a lyric from her’s and G-Eazy’s song “Him & I.” The lyric is, “If I ever cheated she would try to cut my d**k off.”
Halsey later deleted the tweet, but then soon after tweeted “pumpkin eater.” This perfectly fits with the nursery rhyme, cheater, cheater pumpkin eater.
It seems like a jump, but fans are latched on to these ominous tweets.
