Converse’s Collab With J.W. Anderson Just Created The Coolest Sneakers This Summer

J.W. Anderson is a brand known for designs that lean on the side of whimsical and imaginative, the fashion collections have “just enough of a fillip of oddness to make them desirable”, according to Vogue, so whenever we hear that he is collaborating with another brand, we expect that it will be nothing short of fun and stylish, which is precisely what we got when Converse announced its collaboration with the brand.

While shoe collaborations seem to be a dime a dozen these days, from Doc Martins collaborating with Lazy Oaf, to Thrasher creating a sneaker collection with Vans, it’s almost impossible to decide what to buy, because there are so many options out there. But, take it from us, the J.W. Anderson x Converse “Toy” sneaker collection strides past all of the other collaborations and releases we’ve seen as of late, so don’t let this one slip through your fingers!

While J.W. Anderson and Converse have collaborated in the past, their previous collections did not truly represent the designer’s love of color, experimentation, and overall playfulness was not showcased in their last collaboration as well as it is in this one. The “Toy” collection features bold, and brightly colored gradient on a highly glossy material, which was inspired by Ron Nagle’s sculptures, an obsession of Anderson’s. All the shoes in the collection feature patent uppers, replacing the usual canvas material, fuzzy laces, inspired by the colorful stucco houses of San Francisco, and a brightly colored rubber sole and sidewall. The finished product is a candy-colored sneaker that looks almost edible! They’re highly reflective and visually stunning!

Our favorite pair has to be the purple-ish navy blue low-tops! The dark base color is contrasted beautifully with pure white laces, and a loud yellow sole, which looks too pretty to get dirty! Our favorite feature of this particular shoe has to be that the slightly translucent orange midsole, which pulls the whole shoe together, and gives off the appearance that the shoes are glowing at the bottom! This sneaker reminds us of a stormy sky, and we’re loving it for summer!

All four styles are all equally stunning, however, and they will all be available for purchase on Nike.com on July 19th! The high tops are priced at $150, low tops at $140, which is a really good price for a designer collab! We’re almost ready to ignore almost every other sneaker collab for the rest of the year because the J.W. Anderson x Converse Toy collection is so fun and eye-catching!
