Taylor Swift Is Returning To Acting For The Movie Adaption Of ‘Cats’

Taylor Swift has been MIA for a year and after the release of Reputation, she’s ready to make another comeback. Swift is set to star in the movie adaption of the musical Cats. She’ll be on the big screen alongside James Corden, Jennifer Hudson and Ian McKellen.

The musical is super fitting for Swift who is an avid cat lover. She has two cats named after TV characters Olivia Benson and Meredith Grey. She regularly posts videos and pics of her cats on her Instagram. Her cat Olivia was even featured in her Direct TV commercial.

But back to the musical movie Cats. It will be directed by Tom Hooper who directed The King’s Speech and the movie adaption of Les Miserables. The filming for Cats will start in November in Britain. This is perfect for Swift whose boyfriend Joe Alwyn is English and lives in London.

The screenplay is written by Lee Hall who is famous for writing the musical Billy Elliot and the musical’s movie screenplay.

It’s unknown what role Swift will play in the movie. Variety confirms that Hudson, who won an Oscar for Dreamgirls, will be playing Grizabella. Hudson’s character/cat is a former “glamour cat” who has hit a rough patch.

The other main cats that Swift could potentially play are Bombalurina, Demeter, Griddlebone, Jellylorum, Jemima, and Victoria. The musical was composed by Andrew Lloyd Weber and is the fourth longest-running musical on Broadway. It made its debut on October 7, 1982, and closed on September 10, 2000. Cats won seven Tony Awards including Best Musical in 1983.

If Cats follows in the footsteps of Hooper’s Les Miserables it will most likely be nominated for a few Oscars.
