5 Signs That The Timing Of Your Relationship Isn’t Right

Timing when it comes to a relationship is very important and it can be a game changer. Ever heard the phrase, right person, wrong time? It’s so true that it hurts. The wrong timing can have the ability to end a relationship with the person that you think is the one for you! Maybe you both live in different cities and can’t see each other often or one of you is career oriented and doesn’t have time for the relationship like you do. These are very real scenarios.

Here are 5 signs that the timing of your relationship if off!

Maybe you’re starting your dream career and your partner is still in school. This is the time when a large age gap in a relationship is going to affect you because you and your partner are in totally different life stages. You could even be the same age as your partner and in totally different life stages, too! If you want to date and fool around for a bit then you probably shouldn’t go date someone that is ready to settle down.

One or both of you are super career oriented.

Maybe one of you started a new business or just got a promotion. Either way, both of these are going to take a huge chunk of time and energy away from your relationship. This is especially difficult if you’re trying to build a new relationship.

This doesn’t mean you have to break up instantly but you need to make sure that both parties are receptive to this new element that is going to make the relationship harder. You also need to make sure that you and your partner are 100% committed to making it work.

You’re struggling with mental health.

External sources make for bad timing but so can internal sources. Mental health is tough enough. A mental health issue that’s causing struggles within the new relationship? That’s just making life harder for both parties. Similarly, if you’re partner just got out of rehab or treatment, a new relationship is really hard to maintain when they’re trying to settle into a new lifestyle.

Long Distance…

So your partner got into law school! You’re so happy for them but the school is a 5-hour car ride away and you both know that a long-distance relationship is always tough. Adding something like grad school or even law school is just going to make it harder. If both are willing to work through the challenge and communicate openly then go for it! But if one person is doing all the legwork, that’s not a healthy relationship.

You just went through a breakup…
