Sorry 90s babies, but there won’t be any Spice Girls reunion tour happening any time soon.

Victoria Beckham revealed in an interview with Vogue Australia that Elton John played a significant part in her decision to leave the Spice Girls.

After her years of being Posh Spice, Beckham has become a mother of four children and has established herself in the fashion world with her own brand. With major worldwide success, her brand recently celebrated its 10-year anniversary show at London Fashion Week.

With big talk about a supposed Spice Girls reunion, Beckham opened up about the moment she realized she didn’t want to perform anymore.

She told Vogue Australia about her time in the band and confessed seeing Elton perform live made her believe she was ‘wasting’ her own opportunity.

“I was with Elton John this weekend and I told him, ‘You’re the reason why I stopped the Spice Girls,'” she explained to Vogue. “I went to see him in Vegas in doing The Red Piano, where David LaChapelle curated the most incredible show with him, and I remember sitting there very near to the front and looking at him singing those songs he’d sung time after time, year after year, and his passion and his enjoyment was incredible, even after all that time. A few nights later, I was on stage at Madison Square Garden with the Spice Girls, and I thought ‘It’s almost like a waste that I’m given this opportunity. I appreciate the time I’ve had with the girls, but I don’t have what Elton can have after all these years.'”

Will There Be A Reunion?

Beckham also revealed that talk of a reunion has caused a lot of drama. She discussed the persistent tour rumors and accusations about how she is to blame for the lack of a reunion. She told Vogue how this isn’t the case.

“Every day someone says ‘Are you going on tour? You’re the one who’s stopping it.’ For me, there was always something else I wanted to do,” she continued. “I had lunch with the Spice Girls a few months ago to see how everybody was, things spiraled out of control, and I had my lawyer trying to beat down stories that were completely ludicrous. It was a reminder of how awful that was.”

However, former bandmate Mel B was not impressed by Beckham’s words and apparently blamed Victoria for a hold-up with the tour.

The two apparently got into a heated fight over whether a reunion will happen or not after Beckham announced she was cutting ties with the Spice Girls.

So, unfortunately, a Spice Girls reunion tour isn’t looking too promising…
