Everything You Need To Know About Ariana Grande’s New Song ‘Imagine’

On December 11 Ariana Grande announced her next single “Imagine” and that it was dropping on Thursday, December 13. This song is the second single off of her album Thank U, Next.

Her last single was “Thank U, Next” was her first number one single and the accompanying music video crushed records. “Imagine” has huge shoes to fill and her fans can’t wait to hear it.

When does “Imagine” drop?

“Imagine” drops at night on Thursday, December 13. Ariana announced the single on her Twitter and then her Instagram story. On her Instagram, Ariana posted what fans believe is the album art for the single. The photo is black and white and shows a close up of glossy lips (supposedly Ariana’s) with the Chinese word for Imagine.

She also shared a countdown for the single that you can turn notifications on for.


What is “Imagine” about?

After she announced her single fans flooded her mentions asking her what “Imagine” is about. Ariana responded to one fan and said Imagine is about “a simple, beautiful love that is now (and forever) unattainable.”


Ariana then shared a lengthy explanation of her song and album.

“A lot of this album mourns failed yet important, beautiful relationships in my life (as well as celebrates growth / exploring new independence). But for those of you asking about “Imagine”: I would say if “Thank U, Next” = acceptance… “Imagine” = denial. Hope that makes sense.”


Grande continued to answer fans on Twitter saying that Thank U, Next is sup personal and “Imagine” is “very special” to her.


Has Ariana released any sound bites of “Imagine”?

After the “Thank U, Next” music video dropped Ariana posted that she wants her next single to be “Imagine.” Many fans believed that her song “Needy” would be the next single because she dropped a few easter eggs in the music video alluding to the song.

But when fans went nuts asking about “Needy” Ariana cleared the air on Twitter.

Unlike “Needy” Ariana hasn’t posted any snippets or sound bites of “Imagine” yet.
