Lori Loughlin’s daughters, Olivia Jade and Isabella “Bella” Rose Giannulli are having a hard time coping with Operation Varsity Blue the college admissions bribery scandal.
“Bella and Olivia are suffering in their own ways from the fallout of their parents’ decisions,” a source told Entertainment Tonight a week after Loughlin and her husband Mossimo Giannuli were indicted.
Loughlin and Mossimo were indicted for paying $500,000 in bribes to get their daughters admitted to the University of Southern California. The half a million dollars went to bribe USC coaches to recruit their daughters as crew members to get easily admitted to the school as student-athletes. Since the news broke, Bella and Olivia have both dropped out of college.
“Bella and Olivia have a very tightknit group of friends who have been there to support them,” the source continued. “They’ve needed that support because they’re being attacked at every turn.”
The source went on to say that Bella, who was a sophomore, “was far more invested in college and would loved to have completed USC.” Olivia is “so embarrassed she doesn’t even want to go out.”
Olivia, 19, is a popular YouTuber and Instagram influencer. In many videos, Olivia talks about her hate for high school and how she doesn’t like school.
“I don’t know how much of school I’m gonna attend but I’m gonna go in and talk to my deans and everyone, and hope that I can try and balance it all,” Olivia said in her video. “But I do want the experience of like game days, partying — I don’t really care about school, as you guys all know.”
In the affidavit, it states that Olivia was too “confused” to fill out her own formal college application to USC and her parents paid for someone else to do it for her.
The source went on to say that Olivia is “really angry with her parents because she told them she did not want to go to college and she was pushed.”
“She has been passionate about her career and wanted to work and was doing well but that wasn’t enough,” the source went on. “Her parents said she would have to juggle college and her career. Now she’s devastated because everything she built implode before her eyes.”
“She feels they ruined everything,” the insider concluded.
Since the scandal, many of Olivia’s partnerships have ended. Sephora pulled her palette from their site and TRESemme dropped her as well.
It’s unknown how much of the cheating scandal Olivia and Bella knew about. Both girls posed on a rowing machine for their fake student-athlete profiles, but it’s unknown if they knew what the photos were being used for. Olivia was also CCed on a few emails between her parents and Rick Singer, the man behind the cheating ring. The emails didn’t explicitly talk about the cheating.
