Are you ready for one of the biggest nights in music? The 2019 MTV Video Music Awards is set to air tonight Monday, August 26 at 8:00 P.M. EST.
Some of the biggest names in hip-hop, pop, R&B, rock, rap, and various other genres will be in attendance at the award show tonight. We have all the details you need to know before you watch the live show.
It will be held at the Prudential Center for the first time

The ceremony will be held for the first time ever at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey. In past years the VMA’s have alternated back and forth between locations in New York City and Los Angeles.
There will be two new categories featured
MTV added two new categories this year: Best K-Pop and Video for Good (previously known as Video With a Message). MTV also announced three fan-voted ones: Best Group, Best Power Anthem and Best Song of Summer.

Sebastian Maniscalco will be hosting

The 36th annual ceremony will be hosted by comedian Sebastian Maniscalco, who is known for his stand up comedy shows. Past comedian hosts include Kevin Hart, Chris Rock, Russel Brand, and Chelsea Handler.
Ariana Grande and Taylor Swift are tied for the most nominations

Ariana Grande and Taylor Swift are tied with the most nominations with an impressive 10 nods each. Grande’s “Thank u, Next” is up for Video of the Year as well as Song of the Year. The singer is also nominated for Artist of the Year. Swift’s “You Need to Calm Down” is also nominated for Video of the Year and Song of the Year too.
Other top nominees include Billie Eilish, Cardi B, The Jonas Brothers, and Lil Nas X.
Your favorite artists will be performing

Numerous artists will be performing on stage with Taylor Swift opening the show. Other singers include Lizzo, The Jonas Brothers, Shawn Mendes with Camila Cabello, Lil Nas X, J Balvin with Rosalía and Ozuna, H.E.R., Normani, Bad Bunny, as well as Big Sean with A$AP Ferg.
The show will close with New Jersey natives Queen Latifah, Fetty Wap, Redman, Naughty by Nature and Wyclef Jean.
Missy Elliot will receive The Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award

The singer just dropped her new album for the first time in 14 years. Elliot will be the 33rd recipient of the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award. She joins fellow winners Britney Spears, Kayne West, Jennifer Lopez, Pink, Rihanna, Madonna, The Beatles, Justin Timberlake, Janet Jackson, David Bowie, and George Michael.
Many of your favorite celebrities will be in attendance
The ceremony will feature numerous A-listers who will hand out the moon awards including Bebe Rexha, Billy Ray Cyrus, The U.S. Women’s National Soccer Team, Hailee Steinfeld, Ice-T, French Montana, John Travolta, Keke Palmer, Lenny Kravitz, Rick Ross, Victor Cruz, and Lindsey Vonn.
Other attendees include Gigi and Bella Hadid.
