If you can think back to a simpler time when Shia LaBeouf was a lovable goofball on Even Stevens, you might remember Christy Carlson Romano, who played big sis Ren on the show and gave us hits like “We Went to the Moon in 1969.” This weekend Romano found herself standing in the cold on her balcony in some very nice lingerie because of Fifty Shades of Grey. But we might be getting ahead of ourself. Romano, like most people online, is not a fan of the film, mostly because the sex scenes are super dicey when it comes to consent (or lack there of). Romano, who obviously has more faith in the general movie going public than I do, bet her husband that the movie would be toppled from its top box-office perch by its second weekend. The stakes? The loser had to stand in the increasingly bitter winter air in their underwear (is this something married couples do? I feel like I would bet a week’s dominance over what we’d watch on Netflix). Fifty Shades held strong, which leads us to Romano holding a consent sign in the cold in a corset, which both sends an important message and lets anyone who spots a freezing woman in her underwear know that she’s out there of her own free will.
