YouTube beauty guru NikkieTutorials recently started a movement to end makeup shaming. After she posted a video entitled, The Power of Makeup, it instantly went viral. The video has gained over 17 million views so far.
In her video, Nikkie stated, “I have been noticing a lot lately that girls have been almost ashamed to say they love makeup, it’s as if putting makeup on to have fun is a shame. Therefore, I thought it would be cool to show you the power of makeup. I just want people to know that makeup is fun and there are no rules to makeup and if you wanna go super sharp-contour for the day, do it!”
Now women all over Twitter and Instagram are coming together to silence makeup shamers who believe that women who wear makeup are insecure and only wear makeup to please others.
But, in all reality, makeup is just something that a lot of women are using to express themselves and it should be alright for a women to play around with makeup, if she wants to.
While using #ThePowerOfMakeup, women have been uploading pics of themselves with makeup on half of their face and sharing their feelings about makeup and how it makes them feel and how confident they truly are with or without makeup.
It’s absolutely amazing to see all these beautiful women embracing themselves and having enough confidence to say that they happy just as they are. I’m really proud of these women for taking a stand against the people who think that women are allowing makeup become something that needs to define them. You’re all just the epitome of flawless!
