A waitress is out of a job after being fired from Patrick’s Westport Grill in St. Louis, Missouri for labeling two dining customers as “black couple.” The waitress claims that she was merely using the label to remember her tables. The patron, Kimberli Wilson, rightfully stated, “Are we still doing this in 2015?”
We minorities are so much more than your socially-constructed concept of “race.” Aren’t we supposed to be a far-more progressive society?
As a result of the waitress’ actions, the owner, Patrick Hanon, published an apology to the restaurant’s Facebook page, stating that the restaurant has “zero tolerance” for this behavior. His staff will be undergoing diversity training in a move to ensure that this action is not repeated.
Patrick Hanon offered to meet with Wilson to apologize in person and offer her unlimited meals at the restaurant. Wilson intends to return to the restaurant and will recommend it to others.
