If you were looking for a reason to kick start your childhood Beanie Baby collection once again, look no further. Ty Inc. has decided to create a Beanie Baby in honor of Cecil the lion and everybody on this earth needs to own one.
Cecil the lion was killed in Zimbabwe by Dr. Walter Palmer, big game hunter and Minnesota dentist who illegally took down Cecil with the help of paid-off guides. This sad news went viral, setting off animal conservation advocates and wildlife lovers everywhere.
So how will this absolutely heart-melting Beanie Baby help Cecil the lion? According to Ty Inc., every last cent of profit from this $5.99 stuffed lion will be donated to the Wildlife Conservation Research Unit of the University of Oxford (where staff monitored Cecil by GPS tracker). Cecil will be on sale in stores beginning in September.
The founder of Ty Inc., Ty Warner, said, “Hopefully, this special Beanie Baby will raise awareness for animal conservation and give comfort to all saddened by the loss of Cecil.”
We hope so too. What heartless soul wouldn’t spend a mere $6 on this cuddly little fluff ball? I mean, look at those eyes. Who could say no to those eyes.
