Yup, you heard it right. Society is on its way to making vintage fashion trendy by bringing back pre-owned clothing from thrift shops and your mom’s closet. While hipsters everywhere are rejoicing about said news, we’re questioning a different secondhand fad that might be on the rise. There is now a website in existence that is dedicated to selling used makeup, and we’re not sure whether to be really excited or totally grossed out.
According to Business Insider, Karen Horiuchi, CEO and founder of Glambot, the website “buys used makeup from people looking to offload their extras, then cleans it all before listing it for sale online.”
Sounds kind of cool, if that is the truth. But is it really worth buying a Naked palette at a discounted price if it’s glorious, shining eyeshadows have already been touched? Isn’t that part of the hype about buying new makeup, anyways?
The rule at Glambot is that the already used makeup has to be at least 50 percent full and is price-based on how much is left. In our opinion, it really comes down to how desperate you are. If you’re looking to get a good deal on some expensive makeup and aren’t afraid that it’s already been used, it seems like Glambot might be for you.
