Racial tensions continue to boil over on Ithaca College’s campus as students and faculty call for a vote of no confidence in President Tom Rochon. Students are calling for the president to resign.
Rochon, president of the college since 2008, is being held accountable for what some students claim are incompetent responses to multiple allegedly racist incidents on campus and an overall noninclusive environment. Events include Public Safety officers making “racially insensitive” comments during RA-training sessions, racially charged statements being made toward an African American alumna at campus event, and unaffiliated fraternity Alpha Epsilon Pi holding a “Preps & Crooks” party.
As a result, an email has been sent out by the SGA asking for a vote of “confidence” or “no confidence” in Rochon, USA Today says. The votes are due by Nov. 30.

Looks like Ithaca is taking a cue from Mizzou.
At the University of Missouri this week, President Tim Wolfe resigned following protests that said the college did not handle racist incidents on the Mizzou campus such as a swastica drawn in human feces.
