Justin Bieber Wins First-Ever HALO Hall of Fame Award, Honors Paris in Speech

Last night, Saturday, Nov.14, was the 2015 Nickelodeon HALO (“Helping And Leading Others”) Awards, held at Pier 36 in New York City.
At the event, Justin Bieber was the recipient of the event’s first-ever Hall of Fame Award. The awards took place just one day after the multiple terrorist attacks on Paris, France, which left over 100 dead.

In a press release, HALO Award host, Nick Cannon, said, “There’s no better way to begin the holiday season than by celebrating the amazing work of these four teens and our first HALO Hall of Fame recipient Justin Bieber at the Nickelodeon HALO Awards. Justin’s commitment to granting wishes for kids is unparalleled, and his ability to inspire and lead others through his positive actions is at the core of what HALO is all about.”
While accepting the award, Bieber made a heartfelt speech before he asked the audience to take a moment of silence in honor of Paris.
“I just want to say how grateful I am to Nickelodeon, all the people in the audience right now,” Justin said. “Can I just say something for one second? There’s been some sad things happening in the world right now, and I think we should all honor that and take one moment of silence for that if you guys could. So yeah, if we could just take a moment.”

Having just released his new album, Purpose, on Nov. 13, this was also a great moment for him to put his money where his mouth is, so to speak, and stand behind the deep significance and meaning of what he intended his new album to represent.
In a recent interview with iHeartRadio, the 21-year-old Canadian singer said, “The significance of my album Purpose is basically just to let people know that whether you lost your purpose, or you don’t feel like you have a purpose, it’s really important you find it.”
The night of the attacks, Bieber was hosting a show in L.A., where he also stopped his performance to honor the victims and ask everyone to pray for those affected.
