Look, I don’t like sharing my pizza with people as much as the next guy, but sometimes it must be done (sharing is caring or some nonsense like that). Your once peacefully-planned dinner event transforms itself into a major argument and results in angrily-made accusations of not properly slicing the pizza pie in equal sizes. Alas, a meal that was supposed to be delicious and stress-free has ended in tears and screaming (if you’re dramatic)!
Fret no longer, my fellow pizza lovers! Joel Haddley and Stephen Worsley, two mathematicians at the University of Liverpool, have discovered a method to cut pizza slices equally by using a method called “monohedral disc telling.” Not only will your pizza pie be equally distributed, but it’s an art project now!
According to Haddley and Worsley, if you want 12 equal slices, you have to cut six pieces into a curvy star-shape from the center of the pie and then halve those pieces. It looks like this:

It doesn’t even stop there. You can use the monohedral disc telling technique to get up to 36 slices from your favorite Italian food. However, as Mashable points out, the more slices you cut from the pie, the more crust you’re going to get.

Aren’t you glad higher education has tackled such pressing problems? I sure am! The process of cutting the pizza seems like a lot of effort, but I have to give Haddley and Worsley credit. Someone had to figure out how to properly slice a pizza pie equally!
