Disney movies are part of everyone’s childhoods, but it’s kind of hard to relate to a bunch of princesses with perfect hair and pet tigers. But what if you took away their castles and cast them as millennials?
Canadian illustrator Anoosha Syed decided to give Jasmine, Ariel, Belle, and the rest of the Disney leading ladies 21st century makeovers.
“Hi, I’m Anoosha. I’m a children’s book illustrator and character designer for animation. I love Disney princesses, and in my spare time I created a series of digital illustrations of what I imagine these girls would be like as 21st century teens/young adults,” the mind (and hand) behind the latest Disney princess reimagining wrote on Bored Panda. “I tried to be accurate to their personalities, writing little backstories for each character. I also put little homages to their movies, can you spot them all?”
Syed imagined Mulan would be a cadet, Jasmine would be a travel blogger, and Snow White would be all about keeping her Twitter updated. Think they’d be part of your girl squad?
