As we all already know, Hillary Clinton had a pretty hard week, but somehow she still managed to make her way back into the spotlight last night. At an event for Children’s Defense Fund in Washington, D.C., Clinton made her first appearance since her emotional concession speech last week to be honored for a lifetime of service at the prestigious gala. In another inspirational speech, Clinton told her supporters that their voices matter now more than ever.
“I will admit coming here tonight wasn’t the easiest thing for me,” she told the crowd. “There have been a few times this past week when all I wanted to do is just to curl up with a good book or our dogs and never leave the house again.” But as she told her supporters Wednesday night, the most important thing right now is to do the complete opposite.
“I know many of you are deeply disappointed about the results of the election,” she said. “I am too, more than I can ever express. … [But] service is the rent we pay for living. You don’t get to stop paying rent just because things didn’t go your way.”
She continued, “We have work to do. I ask you to stay engaged, stay engaged on every level… America needs you, your energy, your ambition, your talent. That’s how we get through this. That’s how we help to make our contributions to bend the arc of the moral universe towards justice.”
Along with her inspirational words, Twitter also praised the politician for not wearing makeup during the appearance. As one Tweeter put it, she’s clearly had it with the patriarchy.
Love that @HillaryClinton decided not to wear makeup in her first speech off the campaign. She's clearly had it with the #patriarchy 💪🏼🤘🏼 pic.twitter.com/AyA91WG0VG

My aesthetic is @HillaryClinton giving a post-election speech with no makeup on because queen truly has no more fucks to give. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

I'm watching @HillaryClinton at the Children's Defense Fund gala. Very little (or no) makeup again. She's like… pic.twitter.com/Y4KbrEQ8BS

While I'm still finding it hard to get out of bed, @HillaryClinton is strong as ever. Amazing, super power strength – even without makeup. https://t.co/hiIq5juTUx

Hillary Clinton looks like her entire glam squad left her. Makeup gone, the feathers in her hair. She just woke up from a nightmare. Truly.
