2017 is slowly but surely coming to its end. It was definitely a rough year for all of us. But hey, if we have to end a bad year, why not end it with some good news?
We might not have a royal family leading the United States, but that doesn’t mean we don’t stay up-to-date with the monarchy across the sea. Prince Harry of Wales, sixth in line for the throne, recently got engaged to American actress Meghan Markle. I can’t wait to see the royal wedding! But before we get to that, let’s should get more acquainted with the prince and his past accomplishments.
Prince Harry’s Estimated Net Worth as of 2018: $35.7 Million.
Let’s see how this royal earned his riches, shall we?
Early Life

Prince Harry was born in Paddington, London on September 15, 1984. He was later baptized with the name Henry Charles Albert David at Windsor Castle by the Archbishop of Canterbury.
Unlike other royal children, Princess Diana wanted her son to have a different experience growing up. His parents often brought him along on official visits at a young age, but they also took him to Disney World, clinics and shelters as well. Suffice to say, the early exposure to different experiences helped mold him into the charitable man he is today.
Unfortunately, the years following would test him. After his parents divorced in 1996, his mother died in a fatal car accident the following year.
2005 – 2008

Considering he’s a member of the royal family, I can’t imagine he had a lot of career options growing up. Most royals either focused on politics or the military. Prince Harry chose the latter by enlisting into the Royal Military Academy in 2005. He quickly moved up the ranks in the following years after completing his officer training in 2006. Prince Harry was commissioned as a second lieutenant in the Blues and Royals regiment and was later promoted to lieutenant in 2008.
2006 was a year of public debate for the prince after his unit was scheduled to tour Iraq. While many feared for his safety, he was determined to serve on the front lines. The prince went so far as to say he would leave the army if the Ministry of Defense forced him to stay at the backlines while his regiment risked their lives simply because he was a royal.
As moving as his decision was, army officials eventually conceded and agreed that his presence on the battlefield might add further danger to his regiment. Hence, Harry did not serve in Iraq that year.

Although he couldn’t support his men in Iraq, that didn’t mean Prince Harry gave up his military career. He went on to get certified to fly military helicopters. After years of training, Harry was given his flying brevet in 2010 and swapped his Blues and Royals cap for his Army Air Corps beret.
In 2011, Harry was also awarded with an Apache Flying badge and was promoted to captain. During his training, he was allowed to deploy on the front lines in Afghanistan. He received threats from the Taliban while touring as a helicoptor co-pilot and gunner. Eventually he returned to England in January 2013.
2014 – 2015

After completing his Afghanistan tour, Prince Harry took a break from the front lines, although I’m sure it was more for the Ministry of Defence’s sake than his own. He was tasked with coordinating projects and events for the Army in London.
Prince Harry went on to launch the Invictus Games, which was a Paralympic-styled sporting event for injured officers. He was fully involved in the project, going so far as to attend ticket sales, promote the event online, and interview possible Invictus Games candidates. The event, which took place in September 2014, was a large success.
By 2015 he ended his military career and focused more on his royal duties. As much as he will be missed by his fellow soldiers, he still maintains close ties with them. The prince went on to focus on supporting wounded soldiers and service personnel for the Ministry of Defence’s Defence Recovery Capability scheme. He was determined to provide adequate recovery plans and options for wounded servicemen and women.

Following the outstanding success of the Invictus Games, Harry hosted the Invictus Games in the following years. The 2016 games launched in Orlando with the help of First Lady Michelle Obama, and the 2017 Invictus games launched in Toronto. He also attended multiple official visits and provided a voice for multiple charities, shelters and wounded veterans.
Harry announced his engagement to American actress Megan Markle on November 27, 2017. The royal couple intend to wed sometime in the coming Spring.
