Giphy is one of the largest GIF producing websites. Their end of the year’s numbers are astounding. Giphy said that 300 million people shared over two billion GIFs every day! That’s right, every day two billion GIFs were shared.
The moving images have become the ideal format for showing reactions and emotions on Twitter. Giphy compiled a list of the most viewed and distributed GIFs on their site.
1. Love Gnome
The Love Gnome created by Anna Hrachovec garnered 340 million views. The GIF shows a small knitted gnome knitting a heart. The completed kitted heart floats up and off the screen like a ballon.
2. White Guy Blinking
It’s shocking that White Guy Blinking isn’t the number one GIF considering that it was all over the Internet this year. It comes in second with 226 million views.
3. Waving Pug
This Waving Pug was from behind the scene footage of DNCE’s “Kissing Strangers” music video. This cute lil pug was viewed 215 million times.
4. Fall Out Boy Llama
This GIF is from Fall Out Boy’s reaction pack with GIPHY. The llama is from their “The Last of the Real Ones” music video and the llama is a fan favorite with 197 million views.
5. NFL Celebration
Junior Gallette’s celebration when he completed a sack really resonated with everyone. The celebration GIF was viewed 180 million times.
6. Good Morning
Waking up is hard, but this Good Morning GIF made it easy for 175 million people who viewed it.
7. Warriors Fan Dance
These Golden State Warriors fans happy dance was viewed 165 million times.
8. Nope Rat
This cool rat wagging his finger and shaking his head “no” was viewed 154 million times.
9. Bryan Cranston
Bryan Cranston dropping the F-bomb in Why Him? was viewed 138 million times. It’s a very relatable GIF.
10. Wonder Woman Dance
Gal Gadot happy dancing in her Wonder Woman costume was viewed 135 million times.
