We’d Pay Big Money For This One-Of-A-Kind Prom Gown Made From A $4 Thrift Store Dress

Those of you broke ballers who haven’t discovered the glory of Goodwill better pay attention.

Amber Scholl, a 24-year-old YouTube blogger, was inspired by prom season to do an incredible dress transformation and prove that anybody can look amazing at their high school’s big night.

She hit the local thrift shop and bought a simple black skater dress with a plunging neckline for just $4. She spent another $100 or so on a mesh crystal applique, feathers, and other craft supplies that would take the dress from blah to boom!

After a little tailoring to give the dress a more form-fitting silhouette, attaching the crystals, and sewing on the feathers as a skirt, the dress looks like something straight from the red carpet.

The best part about DIY-ing a dress? It’s totally custom — no worrying that someone may show up wearing a similar look.

“I knew it would be fun to show my subscribers how to get creative and do [prom] for less,” Scholl told Yahoo. “There’s no reason prom and life in general can’t be made fabulous on any budget.”
