Yesterday people lost their minds when word got out that there was a security guarded mural in Los Angeles that only influencers could take a photo with. The private mural was hidden by a tent with a security guard standing outside. The sign reads that only verified influencers or someone with over 20,000 followers could go inside the tent and take a photo with the mural.
The top secret social media elitist mural was a pink heart with angel wings inside. A verified icon was painted in the crevice of the heart and “City of Angels” was scrolled across the top. On either side of the heart, towards to bottom, reads “Love” and “Art.” On the bottom left-hand side is a Banksy like painter “painting” the mural.

The private mural caused strong reactions. Some were good but most were bad, but a handful found the mural to be hilarious.

this is WEIRDEST thing in the world, influencers and people with verification are just people. everyone is just human why separate people as if follower count or your social media status would make you more worthy of going somewhere than another person. https://t.co/ymNO8aA779

The influencer only mural wasn’t a prank or social experiment. The mural was to promote a new show Like and Subscribe. The show is premiering July 9 and will be streaming on Go90. According to the press release the show is a scripted comedy about YouTubers.
Today we are so excited to debut the beautiful mural we curated in the heart of the LA art scene. Come down and check it out. Unfortunately the mural is currently for verified influencers and people with over 20k followers only. However it may be public soon. Stay tuned! pic.twitter.com/CRIzqaAhX8

The Twitter account sarcastically tweeted that they are disappointed to see influencers upset with the private mural.
Disappointing to see a few verified influencers getting upset about the mural. There is no reason to be mad! We created it specifically for you. Instead of the negativity, come down and take a great photo!

Based on the marketing ploy and the tone of the show’s Twitter, it’s fair to assume the show is a satirical take poking fun at YouTubers and content creators.
If you are verified or have over 20,000 followers you can still visit the mural. It’s located at 7753 Melrose Ave. in Los Angeles. It’s only supposed to be up or private until June 27, but in their original tweet, they said the private mural could be made public soon.
What do you think of the private influencer only mural?
