Taylor Swift Donates $15,500 To Help A Fan’s Struggling Family

Taylor Swift is spreading some good. Over the weekend, the singer has donated $15,500 to 19-year-old fan Sadie whose mom, Lauriann Bartell, has been in a coma for three years.

Sadie, who runs a Taylor Swift fan Twitter account with over 4,500 followers, tweeted her mom’s GoFundMe on October 1.

“Hey guys. I’m really nervous to post this,” Sadie tweeted. “Please help if you can and pray for my family. I’m sorry I never said anything sooner and that I’m suddenly asking for help. I love you guys so much.”

Attached was a long notes app explaining her mom’s situation and a link to the fundraiser. Sadie explains that her mom has been in a coma for three years and now has an ulcer, which led to brain damage. Her family takes care of her mom at home, so her dad can’t work. The kids have to support the family and most of them are young and some unemployed. She went on to ask her followers to donate money and how Swift has helped her get through her mother’s health complications.

She said her mom fell into a coma two days before she saw the 1989 tour, “I’m grateful to Taylor for keeping me afloat through it all,” she wrote.

The GoFundMe was to raise $25,000 and Swift donated $15,500 to bring the fundraiser to its goal. She simply signed her $15,500 donation “Love, Taylor, Meredith and Olivia Swift.”

Swift has been reaching out to her fans in unconventional ways this year. She recently invited a 5-year-old fan named Jacob Hill and his service dog backstage to her Houston show. Before her Reputation Tour started she invited 2,000 foster kids to a private concert during her final dress rehearsal. She played a full two hours before taking photos and signing autographs for another three hours.

Then in March, one of her fans was getting married so she sent her a wedding gift, a $140 bottle of champagne. For another fan’s wedding Swift sent them a flower arrangement.
