By now, everyone knows that Gilmore Girls is making a comeback thanks to the amazing people at Netflix. Even better, Amy Sherman-Palladino is back to fix the mess made in the seventh season that practically ruined the show. As an avid Gilmore Girls fans since 2003, I have some things I desperately need to happen in these upcoming four episodes.
1. Lorelai needs to not be with Luke
There, I said it. I know I’m in the minority here and they will obviously be together, but I’m hoping they’re not. I never cared for Luke, and the only reason fans think they like these to together is because they’ve been pushing it since the first scene of the show. In reality, when Luke and Lorelai are friends, he is kind of great, but when they’re together, he’s annoying. He only ever seemed to tolerate her, which is ridiculous because he’s Luke Danes and should feel lucky that Lorelai Gilmore is dating him.
2. Rory is killing it as a journalist
I will always be Team Logan and will never get over her not accepting his proposal. Had she married Logan at the time though, she wouldn’t have taken the job as journalist on Obama’s 2008 campaign, so I understand it completely. She deserves to be doing so well working at the New York Times or a major online publication, then she can run into Logan in NYC and realize she needs to marry him.
3. Richard Gilmore gets a killer tribute
Everything was perfect about this revival until you realize that we lost our Gilmore patriarch this year. Richard and Emily were so amazing, and that will be missed in this new season. Since he was always credited as special guest appearance, can we continue that? Just change it to special guest appearance in spirit by Edward Herrmann and all will be right?
4. Emily is using the grieving widow card for everything
I want her in all black, wearing veils, and telling Lorelai to do everything for her just because she’s a widow. I’m sorry, but this is a must. Think back to the episode “Driving Miss Gilmore.”
5. Paris and Doyle are married and taking over the world
These two were one of the best couples on the show. Paris was terrifying, and Doyle was smart and dorky. They just made sense, and I’m expecting Doyle to be working for a paper while Paris is a lawyer and/or doctor.
6. Sookie and Jackson are happy in Stars Hollow
This means that Melissa McCarthy needs to be on the show and not just Jackson talking about Sookie being busy. I get that she’s an Oscar nominee, but not making an appearance at the reunion was unacceptable. Doyle still attended and he’s been busy creating Empire, the biggest show on television last year.
