Each year of elementary school, there came a glorious day during September when your teacher looked a little bit hungover and announced that you’ll be watching a movie based on one of your summer reading books. It usually came right after you took the test, and your fourth grade self probably thought this would have a been more helpful to watch before your knowledge about a book you barely read was tested. Still, no one is going to complain about a movie day.
If you’re like most kids, you probably read Shiloh at some point. When your teacher popped in the VHS for the movie based on the novel, you were obviously thrilled to watch an adorable dog for the next hour and a half. However, you probably started paying attention to another cutie in the movie – Blake Heron, the actor who played Shiloh’s rescuer Marty Preston. Suddenly this book got a lot more interesting – even your 12-year-old self couldn’t resist a cutie with a pup.
It’s been a full 20 years since the movie first premiered at the Heartland Film Festival, and you probably haven’t thought about it since you got your summer reading tests back.
But guess what – Blake Heron doesn’t look like that anymore.
The 34 year old is still acting. He’s recently had roles in episodes of Criminal Minds and NCIS: New Orleans, according to his IMDB page. But to us, he’ll always been Marty Preston.
