MTV’s Video Music Awards are finally here, once again. The iconic show will have a change of scenery and will be held at Madison Square Garden in New York City on August 28. Despite the summer coming to a close, the VMAs always help us have a few more moments of fun with a night jam packed with our favorite celebrities and of course, amazing performances. This year’s performers are sure to make the 2016 VMAs memorable.
At the top of the list is the one and only Britney Spears. The 34-year-old singer announced the news on her Facebook on August 16 captioned, “It’s not just a stage. It’s a story…MTV #VMAs August 28.” The accompanying video shows an albino Burmese python making its way around her dressing room. We all remember Spears iconic moment at the 2001 VMAs where she made a daring performance of “I’m A Slave 4 U” with the same kind of python on her shoulders. Spears will perform “Make Me” off of her latest album “Glory,” alongside rapper G-Eazy. Maybe her old python friend will join her, too.
Others performers include the hunky Nick Jonas, who will be on stage performing his latest song “Bacon” with Ty Dolla $ign. Although the song has received mixed reviews, we’re sure Jonas will have a sizzling performance. And besides, who doesn’t like some bacon?
Last, but certainly not least, is our girl Rihanna. She will receive the 2016 Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award and she couldn’t be more honored. Artists who have won this award in the past include, Michael Jackson, Britney Spears, Beyoncé, and Kanye West, among others. Rihanna is also set to perform at the VMAs but her song of choice is still unknown.
