Memorial Day, at least in Cub Foods commercials, involves wholesome suburban families gathering together to grill burgers, toss frisbees on immaculately-mowed lawns, and settle into the sunshine outdoors to soak in the first temperate weekend of the season.
Unfortunately, the weather isn’t all that reliable, and let’s be real: this is your day off and you deserve to watch TV if you damn well please.
Fortunately, while many channels are straying from their usual schedules on Memorial Day, TV has not shut down completely: you have a number of options, from live showings to marathon events, and I have narrowed them down for you.
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1 & 2 are playing on Freeform starting at 1:30 EST.
The Bachelorette episode two will air as scheduled at 8 p.m.
Scrubs is playing literally all day on Comedy Central.
Better Call Saul will be on AMC starting at 5 p.m. and going well into the night.
River Monsters will grace Animal Planet all day long.
And. finally, if you’re a Lord of the Rings fan, all of the Hobbit movies (An Unexpected Journey, The Desolation of Smaug, The Battle of Five Armies) will be playing on TNT.
Clearly the move here is to watch Scrubs in the morning, move to Harry Potter at 1:30, watch The Bachelorette at 8, then binge-watch Better Call Saul late into the night, but I’m not telling you what to do.
