Beautiful days and hot summer nights make the perfect recipe for romance, but sometimes planning can be tedious. Not only that, but stressing out can ruin the experience for both parties, and nobody wants that! Instead of freaking out looking to book a reservation at that expensive restaurant, why not wing it for once? Being a little spontaneous can add that extra thrill that anybody would find exhilarating. Definitely not a bad thing when it comes to that special someone, right?
1. Go bowling.
It doesn’t matter if you’re “good” at bowling or not, what matters is that you’re having fun with good company. There are plenty of nifty bowling allies to choose from, some with their own bar! Plus the air conditioning never hurt.
2. Do some skyline hunting.
I feel like this is something I made up, but it’s a lot of fun and everyone should try it. Fair warning: it only works when the weather is nice (unless you’re into that). Basically you and your date spend the morning prepping to drive (snacks, music, blankets, etc) and then a few hours before sunset the two of you set off on an adventure. The goal is to find a place where you can watch the sunset together, so it’s basically like a local, one-day road trip. There are so many places you could end up, and the adventure is half the fun!
3. Head to the beach.
There’s just something about dropping everything and running off to the shore with someone you’re into. The sand and surf set the perfect mood, and getting to rock that new swimsuit you’ve been dying to wear is definitely a plus. There’s also the boardwalk and surrounding shore towns to explore, leaving you with endless possibilities for adventure!
4. Watch a drive-in movie.
Yes! Drive-in movies still exist, although they are a little harder to find than they were back in the day. This is great for a number of reasons. It’s way more private than a regular movie theater (facilitating make-out sessions is always a plus), you’re in control of the air conditioning, and you can bring your own snacks! What more could you possibly want?
5. Take a hike.
Connecting with nature is a great way to destress. It’s also a great way to get close to someone you’re interested in! There are plenty of great trails out there ranging in difficulty, so find one that both of you can agree on and get out there!
6. Gaze at the stars.
Perfect for clear nights, there’s nothing like sitting on the roof with your special someone and gazing at the heavens. Bring some snacks and get ready for a lovely evening, you may even just catch a shooting star! Just make sure the roof you choose is a safe one.
