This Is The ‘Suicide Squad’ Spin-Off You’ll Actually Want To Watch

While Suicide Squad itself did not garner rave reviews, the moment the film was released it became clear the public was infatuated with Margot Robbie’s Harley Quinn.

The film made over $750 million at the box office, and soon after the studio announced plans to adapt “Gotham City Sirens” (a comic about female villains) into a movie to fill the void for both bold female antagonists and Harley Quinn’s inexplicably appealing insanity.

Now, according to the Hollywood Reporter, Warner Brothers is also developing a “criminal love story” for Harley Quinn and Jared Leto‘s Joker. It will go into production after the Suicide Squad sequel is finished.

Insiders are describing the film as “When Harry Met Sally on benzedrine,” and “an insane and twisted love story.”

The most fascinating part is that Glenn Ficarra and John Requa, the team behind Crazy, Stupid, Love and This is Us, are in negotiations to write and direct the spin-off. With that team, it’s more than likely the film will have a heavier dose of heart and sentimentality than the average superhero (or rather, super-villain) movie. When handling Harley Quinn and the Joker, it’s fascinating to speculate what they’ll come up with.

Now, Suicide Squad¬†fans currently have not one, but three movies on the docket for the coming years that will feature fan favorite Harley Quinn — so get accustomed to those Halloween costumes. They aren’t going anywhere.
