2017 was the year of bops. From Kendrick Lamar and Taylor Swift’s album releases to Ed Sheeran’s radio reign, we’ve had plenty of music to blast on our morning commute, at the gym, and whenever we want to tune out the world. DJ Earworm just released his annual mashup United State of Pop, in which he puts together the 25 best tracks of the year. The mashup is a mix of pop country, pop, and hip hop and you’ll no doubt recognize all the songs.
DJ Earworm began creating mashups in 2003 and officially began posting the United State of Pop in 2008. Besides the annual mashup, he’s also made summer mashups or dedicated a video to one artist. In every annual mix, he uses songs that depict the feelings of the past year. This year’s theme is “How We Do It” and while he features 25 tracks, Ed Sheeran’s “Shape of You” is the main beat in the background while Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee’s “Despacito” gets no shortage of screen time.
