While many tweets go viral for being funny, relatable, or even outright bizarre, one mother’s random act of kindness is going viral for reducing everyone who reads it to tears.
Twitter user Kyle Jauregui took to Twitter this week to share how a stranger paid for his sister’s birthday cake to honor her own late daughter.
“So today is my sister’s birthday and when we went to pick up her cake someone had already paid for it,” he wrote. “It was left with this card… my family was speechless and we just want to say thank you to McKenna’s mom and wish McKenna a Happy Birthday. There’s still good in this world.”
Upon reading the card, it’s not difficult to understand why the family was speechless.
“In honor of my daughter’s 10th birthday I have chosen your birthday cake to pay for,” it reads. “Each year I do this random act of kindness because I am unable to buy my daughter a cake of her own. Today is her big double digit birthday. Please enjoy your day. -McKenna’s mom.”

McKenna’s mother, Ashley, also included a card from the MISS Foundation, a “kindness project” that helps families honor their deceased family members.
“[McKenna] was here and mattered,” Ashley told Scary Mommy. “Knowing someone reads her name and learns about her means so much.”
The tweet has amassed over 150,000 likes in three days, and users are reaching out with an outpouring of support and love online, praising Ashley for her powerful gesture.
