There is a sense of loss that comes with dismantling a Christmas tree. It feels like the last semblance of holiday cheer is fading away, leaving apartments barren and joyless, stripped of lights, whimsy, and hope (yes, I get a little melodramatic after the holidays).
While some households adhere to strict guidelines on when to take down the tree, the not-queen of Christmas (remember, that is not her appellation) has spoken on when it is absolutely necessary to take it down.
“When is it appropriate to take down your Christmas tree and decorations?” Ryan Seacrest tweeted on December 27, which is far too be early to be thinking such joyless thoughts. “Asking for a friend.”

“Dahhling!” Mariah Carey replied with all the knowing wisdom of the Queen of Christmas. “Not till July 4th!”

That gives everyone around seven months to bask in the glow of off-season decorations and keep those holiday playlists on loop. Mariah Carey says so.
