Despite devouring — no, cherishing — both the book and the TV series, I was firmly against a season 2 for Big Little Lies.
“It will feel forced,” I monologued to my mom, then later to my friends, none of whom were listening. “It was meant to serve as a complete story. The ending resolved the mystery. Liane Moriarty has like eight other screen-worthy books to adapt — why not let a good thing be?”
Of course, when HBO announced that Meryl Streep is joining the cast, my objections faded into the wind. Streep will be playing Mary Louise Wright, the mother of Perry Wright and step-mother of Nicole Kidman (okay, Celeste). It all just feels so RIGHT.
People have some questions, and some thoughts, and literally zero concerns.
