The Real Housewives of New York ladies were on a luxury yacht in South America filming for the popular Bravo show, but then things quickly turned south when the boat caught on fire and the ship began to sink.
Page Six reports that the ladies of RHONY were on a yacht cruise in Cartagena, Colombia. But what was supposed to be a luxury yacht cruise was actually an “old decrepit vessel.”
The whole cast, Dorinda Medley, Bethenny Frankel, Ramona Singer, Carole Radziwill, Tinsley Mortimer, Sonja Morgan and Luann de Lesseps and Bravo filming crew were all aboard the sinking ship. Every season of the Real Housewives the housewives go on a luxury vacation. But this yacht cruise was far from luxury. Supposedly the engine of the boat caught fire and quickly engulfed in flames.
“When they got out to sea, the engine caught fire,” Page Six’s source said. “It was a huge blaze and the crew was fighting to put it out. They didn’t have a fire extinguisher nor did they speak English.”
There were signs that this yacht wasn’t as luxurious as advertised. The boat’s anchor allegedly got stuck and the crew had to saw it off before they could sail anywhere. When the boat began to sank seats and other things started flying around because they weren’t properly nailed down. To boot, there were only a few lifejackets on board.
The source said that the cast was “hysterical” when the ship sunk. “Bethenny, Ramona and Dorinda were soaked and screaming hysterically, Carole and Tinsley were literally throwing up from seasickness. They were far out to sea and they thought they were going down like the Titanic.”
A Bravo rep confirmed that the cast and crew of RHONY experienced “turbulent water” while on a boat but everyone is fine. The TV station is providing counseling to help the cast and crew work through the traumatizing experience.
