Early Friday morning One Direction heartthrob Zayn Malik caused quite a stir on Instagram when he posted a selfie. A shirtless Malik posted the black and white selfie with a billow of smoke surrounding him.
The tattooed 25-year-old captioned the photo with a wink and heart emoticon and fans went wild shortly after.

Malik’s made it no secret in the past about smoking tobacco and marijuana and has been relatively candid about his pastimes.
With more than 27.1 million young girls and teens fawning over the boy bander you would think that he would censor out what he posts to social media. Having such a strong impact and influence over young girls around the world, some fans criticized the star for the post but were more concerned about his health versus him promoting smoking.

Another fan, zaynmaliksgirlbekha1993 wrote, “Please don’t do another pic smoking it influences people to smoke and take pics like this.”
And vastie_joseph commented, “Honey that smoking looks cool on pictures until you realize the damage it’s doing to your insides.”
Other loyal fans stood by his side and expressed their support of Malik and what he chooses to post to the gram when the mood hits him.

Also clearly unbothered by Malik’s smoking hot selfie was his equally smoking hot supermodel girlfriend Gigi Hadid who appeared to be too distracted by her BF’s looks and posted flirty and cheeky comments full of emoticons under his picture.
In spite of Malik’s clear disregard for his lungs, the photo still deemed to be popular amongst fans and has since gained more than 1.2 million likes since he’s posted it.
