Rachel McAdams Admits Regina George Still “Haunts” Her

All of North Shore High felt personally victimized by Regina George, and as it turns out, the infamous Mean Girls villain even haunts the actress who played her. Rachel McAdams has starred in The Notebook, The Time Traveler’s Wife, Spotlight, and more in her lengthy career, but the blonde-haired, backstabbing, fetch-rejecting Plastic remains her most memorable part.

“Does Regina George haunt me every day? She does have that quality,” she admitted to the New York Times in a recent interview. “I have to thank Regina George for giving me some longevity. I’m forever grateful to Tina Fey and Mark Waters. I remember when I read [the script for Mean Girls], I called my agent right away and said, ‘I will play any part in this, please, please, please.’ I was at the beginning of my career, and it was a lofty thing out there, that I really, really, really wanted to do.”

As it turns out, McAdams enjoyed playing the less-than-moral character.

“I’m always looking for larger-than-life characters, which is probably why I like playing villains,” she continued. “They get away with so much.”

Regina didn’t ~totally~ get away with her calculating ways (I mean, she was hit by a bus) but she will go down in pop culture history as one of the most quotable and enduring villains. And that is SO fetch.
