Anyone with an eye for Instagram #content and their pulse on pop culture would want a selfie with pop princess Ariana Grande and her effortless waist-length ponytail — but she has a message for some of the young fans who ask her to pose for photos.
The 24-year-old “Side to Side” singer took to Instagram this weekend to urge her fans to stop cropping themselves out of their photos with her, and to give themselves the same love they give her.
“I love meeting y’all out and about, it makes me so happy!” she wrote. “But it makes me so sad when y’all don’t put your faces in the photos or put emojis over your faces or ask to not be in them! You show me so much unconditional love all the time no matter what tf I look like. You deserve to show yourselves that same kindness. Please learn to give that to yourselves! You will get there and you deserve it and I love you the very same way! Sweet dreams.”
While everyone is entitled to decide which pictures of themselves go online and which never see the light of day, Grande’s message of self-love and acceptance is both sweet and unsurprising. She has spoken out about her dedicated fans in the past, saying that she has a “motherly attachment” to them, and that she wants “them to love themselves so much.”
