Pete Davidson told Howard Stern the story how he and Ariana Grande started dating. The Saturday Night Live star went on The Howard Stern Show and talked all things Grande and how they got together.
“Timing I feel like is everything, and we both were in a similar situation at the same time,” Davidson said about him and Grande both being single.
Davidson just got out of a long-term relationship with Cazzie David and Grande and the late Mac Miller just broke up. The two bonded over being newly single.
“It’s like the weirdest, coolest thing that’s ever happened,” the comedian said about his relationship.
He said that the first time they met was during the writers’ pitch for SNL and he couldn’t stop staring at her. She was the musical guest for the March 12th show. Stern then asked Davidson how the two began to date because she’s a mega pop star and he’s got low self-esteem. The comedian credits Scooter Braun for connecting the two.
Even though the two are madly in love he still can’t believe it’s real.
“Before we started dating, I scrolled through a list of really hot guys on the internet and I was like, ‘Are you sure?’” he joked. “I was like ‘Here is all of One Direction. Are you sure?’ I scrolled through everybody.”
In an interview with GQ Davidson told them that he planned on marrying Grande the moment he met her.
“The day I met her, I was like, ‘Hey, I’ll marry you tomorrow,” he told GQ. “She was calling my bluff. I sent her a picture [of engagement rings]. I was like, ‘Do you like any of these?’ She was like, ‘Those are my favorite ones,’ and I was like, ‘Sick.’”
Davidson said that the two don’t have any wedding plans set in stone, but that it’s “definitely going to happen, for sure.”
