Pete Davidson has had a whirlwind summer. The Saturday Night Live cast member started his summer off by putting a ring on one of the biggest pop stars of the moment, Ariana Grande.
Then the two lovebirds documented their love with a ton of social media PDA, thirsty paparazzi shots and matching tattoos. In his latest interview with GQ, he talked about how his engagement to Grande is actually quicker than most believe.
The two met on SNL when Grande was the musical guest for their March 12th show. The two made their relationship Instagram official in May and then by June 11th rumors began that the two were engaged. They went from meeting each other to engaged in a matter of two months. But now Davidson is saying it happened much faster than that.
“The day I met her, I was like, ‘Hey, I’ll marry you tomorrow,” he told GQ. “She was calling my bluff. I sent her a picture [of engagement rings]. I was like, ‘Do you like any of these?’ She was like, ‘Those are my favorite ones,’ and I was like, ‘Sick.'”
The ring Davidson ended up choosing was a $93,000 pear-shaped diamond ring. It now calls Grande’s slender left ring finger home. According to Page Six, the ring is three-carats and was made by jeweler Greg Yuna.
“Pete called me at the end of May and said ‘Look, I’m getting a ring. This is what I want,'” Yuna told E! “And I told him that I had the right ring for him. He didn’t tell me who it was for but told me to keep it a secret. He didn’t tell me anything about it.”
It took two weeks for Yuna to make the ring and by the time Grande performed at Wango Tango on June 2, it was sitting on her finger. The latest Davidson could have had that ring made was May 19.
Davidson told GQ that the two don’t have any wedding plans set in stone, but that it’s “definitely going to happen, for sure.”
